Following the methodology review EODS agreed to help develop a curriculum for training long term observers and to help deliver the first training. EODS also assisted in the development of TORs and methodology for the LTOs.
The training was over four and a half days and was developed with the Democracy and Election Assistance unit of the AU (DEAU) and EISA who give support to AU EOMs and STO training. Thirty long term observers were trained, some of whom already had experience working on AU EOMS. The standard was very high and all participants passed the course, half being selected for further training as Election/legal analysts (see below). Following the training and participants feedback the training agenda was amended to be used in future (a further francophone LTO training is planned for later this year).
