Workshop for Observer Coordinators offers chance for exchange of good practices

EODS in coordination with the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) and the European External Action Service (EEAS) organised a workshop for experienced Observer Coordinators (OCs) in European Union Election Observation Missions (EU EOMS), on 17 and 18 November. The two-day activity was held at EODS office in Brussels and gathered 12 experts who have worked as OCs in EU EOMS deployed in 2020, 2021 and 2022. The participants were all nationals of EU Member States, namely from Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain. The meeting aimed at offering an opportunity for OCs to exchange experiences and good practices from recent missions and to address common challenges. The OC is mainly responsible for coordination of long and short-term observers (LTOs and STOs) and acts as the core team focal point for all observers, tasking and guiding them on their reporting and operational responsibilities.
