Giovanna is a Senior Associate of the Osservatorio of Pavia where she started working in 1995. In this role, her main areas of activity include applied research and studies related to campaign and media laws and policies, political - social communication as well as training and teaching for a variety of target audiences (university students, election observers, media analysts, members of election management bodies and civil society organisations). Giovanna holds a total of 18 years’ experience in election observation and electoral assistance. She has been working as media specialist for several international organisations and Italian institutions. She has also been working for non-governmental organisations in the field of freedom of expression, democracy and human rights, electoral campaign laws, electoral observation and electoral technical assistance. Giovanna contributed to several election observation manuals and papers, including the OSCE/ODIHR Handbook for Monitoring Women's Participation in Election (Media section), the OSCE/ODIHR Handbook on Media Monitoring for Election Observation Missions; the EU Handbook for European Union Election Observation (Media section) and the EU Core Team Practical Guidelines for Observing Online Environment and Election-Related Content.
Giovanna holds a Master degree in Political Science from university of Pavia and a master degree in Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London.
