EODS conducts a Social Media Monitoring Workshop focused on lessons learned

A Social Media Monitoring (SMM) Workshop was organized by EODS on 19 and 20 January 2022 focusing on identifying lessons learned from recent EU election observation missions.  

EODS is currently in the process of developing operational technical guidance to further support the Social Media Analysts (SMAs) to set up the social media monitoring component.

The online event provided a platform for discussing the most challenging aspects concerning the social media monitoring and proposing a set of recommendations to further detail the methodology and strengthen a common approach in future EU Missions. The discussion mainly focused on improvement and standardisation of methodology, the tools used, the most relevant areas of assessment, suggestions on the team structure and further cooperation with other Core Team (CT) members and Service Provider.

The workshop gathered 15 Social Media Analysts and Media Analysts who took part in the 2020/2021 EU missions and have used SMM tools. Key speakers, representatives from civil society and colleagues from the EEAS Division Strategic Communications, have been invited to share their work in the field of SMM and to join the discussion.
