From April 21 to 29 EODS, in cooperation with the African Union (AU) and the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA), organised a training of trainers (ToT) followed by a training for Long Term Observers (LTOs) with the AU. Seven trainee trainers were trained, all of whom had previously participated in several AU missions and previous EODS supported trainings.
This ToT was designed to enhance the AU's capacity to train its own Long Term Observers and included sessions on training techniques and familiarization with the LTO course content. It was then followed by an AU training for 25 more LTOs. The new AU trainers conducted all training sessions, under the mentorship of EODS and EISA. As part of this mentoring, parts of the new trainers sessions were video-recorded. These videos were reviewed by the AU trainers at the end of the LTO course so that they could examine their individual training styles.
