OPEMAM is a scientific Internet based observatory, which focuses on studying and monitoring the electoral processes and political changes of Arab and Muslim world. Since its establishment in 2006, the number of countries covered has grown rapidly, as well as the number of researchers working for the project. It has conducted more than 30 election observation missions.
The aim of the OPEMAM is to spread knowledge and understanding of the current political and electoral situation of the Arab and Muslim world thanks to powerful analytical and easily comprehensible tools stemming from Comparative Politics. OPEMAM research members have conducted election observer missions in Arab and Middle East countries, provided online political and electoral information updated on a daily basis to inform the public about on-going processes, and drafted electoral reports, briefing papers and working papers on electoral and political processes in Arab and Muslim Countries. OPEMAM has also developed summer courses oriented to scholars and students with electoral observers and researchers specialised in elections in the Middle East.
