Misión Observación Electoral (MOE) was founded in February 2006 as a national platform of civil society. MOE has a network of 280 non-governmental organizations of different backgrounds, including academic, business, unions, youth, women, religious, indigenous, environmental, afro and rural groups, among others, who are engaged in closely monitoring elections in Colombia, raising awareness of the population and informing on election related irregularities, investigating irregularities, and advocating for election reforms based on the principles of transparency, security, reliability and authenticity. MOE monitors media during elections and is working with media to improve their performance during the election process. MOE’s communications team is responsible for sending information to media, social networks and it organises training campaigns for citizenship.
MOE coordinates the “Lima Agreement” (www.acuerdodelima.com), a platform of electoral observation organisations from 14 American and Caribbean Countries.
