EODS training for DCOs in EU EOMs

From 24 to 28 October, EODS organised a training for the position of deputy chief observer in EU EOMs. The training was attended by 14 participants from different EU member states and aimed at develop capabilities to be DCO in EU EOMs. During the five days course, participants were introduced to topics relevant to the work of a DCO in an EU election observation mission, with an special emphasis on roles and responsibilities, international obligations, commitments and good practice related to elections and in particular on managerial skills, media, drafting EU EOM reports and recommendations and interpersonal skills, among others.

The training combined presentations, discussions and case studies. In addition to this, there were exercises aiming at developing participants’ skills in line with EU EOM requirements for DCOs.
