Deputy Chief Observer Training

 

The EODS training for the position of deputy chief observer in EU EOMs aimed at providing election observation practitioners with tools and knowledge to participate in EU EOM Core Teams as DCOs.

During the course, participants were introduced to topics relevant to the work of a DCO in an EU election observation mission, with an special emphasis on roles and responsibilities, international obligation, commitments and good practice related to elections, media content analysis related to election campaign, drafting EU EOM reports and recommendations and interpersonal skills, among others.

Participants were taught different interdisciplinary topics relevant to the DCO's role during a mission, such as security rules and standard operating procedures, or external communication and visibility, with special focus on audiovisual interviews.

The training combined presentations, discussions and case studies. In addition to this, there were exercises aiming at developing participants’ reporting skills in line with EU EOM requirements.
